Monica Migliarotti

Biography

Monica spent part of her teenage years in England studying in an American college and after graduating she spent an additional year in London where she completed her English studies achieving the Cambridge C2 Proficiency, before going to Law School in Milan. 

After getting her Law Degree she did her legal training in London in a Barristers chambers and in a very well known law firm where she specialized in Maritime and Transport law. She  then moved to the United States where she achieved an LLM in Admiralty in Tulane Law School in New Orleans and practiced as a visiting foreign attorney in a NYC law firm. After that , she went back to Milan where she practiced in an international law firm and then in the family firm until she moved to Madrid in 2016. 

During her twenty-one years as a lawyer she also became a professional translator and interpreter and was enrolled in the Court of Milan registry. She was a research assistant in International Law and Maritime Law at the University of Milan for almost ten years and was a professor in a Master in Contractual Techniques for business professionals. Additionally, she participated regularly as a lecturer in transportation law seminars for judges.

In all that time she travelled extensively around the world where she managed to visit the majority of the five continents living extraordinary experiences and meeting new cultures and people. 

In Madrid she has been teaching General, Business and Legal English for a few years focusing mainly on professionals, companies and law firms given her long experience in the field. Her courses focus on comparative analysis between the civil and the common law system in various fields with practical and active training. Starting from August 2022 Monica has also started teaching Legal English and Legal Writing courses at the Riga Graduate School of Law in Riga, Latvia. 

Very enthusiastic, incredibly talented and passionate about everything she does, she enriches her lessons with a lot of details of her professional and personal experience. She uses a very effective method based mainly on empathy and interaction, adapting smoothly to each student’s personal needs which makes the learning process naturally successful. A film and music aficionado Monica manages to maintain the level of her classes always high and to never have a dull moment. 

Monica also works as of counsel giving advice on international legal issues, in particular on International Contracts Drafting in which she has a long term experience. She is a specialist in Contracts, Company law, Maritime and Transportation law.
